Cost of Dental Implants – Sunnyside, NY

The Price of Rebuilding Your Beautiful Smile

If you ask several dentists what the best solution to missing teeth is, the vast majority of them will say dental implants. After all, no other solution offers nearly as many benefits. However, because they come with a higher initial price tag than traditional bridges or dentures, some patients neglect to even consider rebuilding their smile with implants. Keep reading below to learn some of the factors affecting the cost of dental implants, and how you can pay for your new smile without breaking the bank.

Types of Dental Implants

One of the primary determinants of your dental implant cost is how many teeth you’re missing. This affects which restoration you’ll need. If you’ve only lost a single tooth, you can receive just one implant topped with a lifelike dental crown. Patients missing several teeth in a row can get an implant placed at either end of the gap in their grin, with a dental bridge filling the space between them. For patients missing all their teeth, four to eight implants can be placed throughout their jaw to support a full denture. Each of these restorations comes with a different cost.

What are the Stages of Dental Implant Treatment?

Getting implants takes multiple appointments over the course of a few months. First, there’s the consultation, where our dentists take x-rays to determine where exactly your implants will be placed. In some cases, preliminary treatments like gum disease therapy or bone grafting are needed beforehand.

During your implant surgery, your gums will be opened up and tiny holes will be made in your jawbone. The biocompatible titanium posts are placed in these holes and your gums are sealed back up. Over the next three to six months, the implants permanently attach themselves to your jawbone, resulting in a long-lasting and natural-feeling bond. When this process is complete, you’ll return to our office, where we’ll place your custom-made restoration.

Definitely! While dental implants carry a higher initial price tag than other tooth replacement options, they can actually save you money and time in the long run. Because implants can last for decades or even a lifetime, you won’t have to get them replaced every few years like you would with traditional dentures or bridges. Dental implants also offer other unique advantages, such as preventing jawbone deterioration that would result in additional tooth loss.

Does My Dental Insurance Cover Dental Implants?

Although most dental insurance plans won’t pay for the cost of the implants themselves, they often cover other aspects of the treatment, such as your consultation or preliminary procedures like gum disease therapy.
